David v. Goliath
In an effort to get on top of this list I signed up for the Oxford English Dictionary (OED) word of the day email. In the four days since I have noticed a slight problem – the words suck! They’re either ridiculously obscure or really simple. These are not the words I thought I would be learning. This is a big disappointment to someone actually hoping to better their own personal vocab. For example today’s word is obliterate.
Interesting side note – although I find obliterate to be a terribly simple word my spellcheck seems to feel that it is not a legitimate word. This is why shouldn’t trust spellcheck. I’m envisioning a battlefield with Microsoft’s spellchecck on one side and the prestigious OED on the other. The OED would obliterate Mircosoft and stalk off with barely a broken nail.
